Matt Alexander

Founder and CEO

Matt Alexander is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Need.

Outside of Need, Matt has a long history in the world of digital media. Today, he serves as the host of Bionic on 5by5 and author of OneThirtySeven. Between the two, his insight and analysis has been featured in CNN, TheFinancial Times, Forbes, Fortune, The Guardian, NBC, and PBS, amongst many others.

Born and raised in London, England, Matt now resides in Dallas, Texas and proudly operates out of WELD.


Chelsea Vaughn

Operations

Chelsea Vaughn is the Operations Manager for Need.

She is currently pursuing a degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University.

Outside of her studies, in her fleeting spare time, Chelsea works with a growing number of non-profit groups and produces her well-syndicated and increasingly popular weblog, Anchored. For Need, Chelsea provides operational support, whilst lending her skill set to Need's publication, Imprint, brand partnerships, and event planning.


Mobelux

Development Partner

Mobelux is an extremely well-decorated group of designers and developers based in Richmond, Virginia.

Founded by Garrett Ross and Jeff Rock, Mobelux has made a name for itself with apps including Tumblrette, Instapaper for Android, iHome's suite of iOS apps, and, most recently, the acclaimed social platform, Elixr.

Mobelux is an integral, long-term partner and is responsible for the branding, development, and polish of Need.


Carl Sparks

Member of the Board of Directors

Carl Sparks is the Chief Executive Officer of Travelocity Global, a leading travel service.

Carl is the former President of Gilt Groupe, General Manager for Hotels.com North America, and Chief Marketing Officer for Expedia.

Carl brings extensive experience in the e-commerce world to Need.


Andrew Brimecome

Investor and Member of the Board of Directors

Andrew Brimecome is a Dallas-based angel investor and entrepreneur and serves as the investor representative to the Board of Directors.


Trey Bowles

Member of the Board of Advisors

Trey Bowles is the Founder of the Dallas Entrepreneur Center, Chair for Startup America, Adjunct Professor for Entrepreneurship at Southern Methodist University, and a member of the Mayor's Council in Dallas.

Trey has an extensive background in media, having written several television shows, and served as Chief Executive Officer for both peer-to-peer platform, Morpheus, and Big Jump Media.

In a piece for the prestigious publication, D: CEO, it was written that "nothing happens in Dallas’ tech world without Bowles’ touch."


Kevin Vela

Member of the Board of Advisors

Kevin Vela is a Founding Partner of Vela Keller PLC, a Dallas-area legal practice serving a broad variety of corporations, startups, and individuals.

Kevin is also the Founder of the Dallas Angel Network and is an active proponent of the burgeoning entrepreneurial environment in the city.

Kevin and Vela Keller PLC serve as Need's U.S. legal counsel.


Mark Giambrone

Investor

Mark Giambrone is Managing Director of Barrow, Hanley, Mewhinney, & Strauss and a Dallas-area angel investor.

Mark boasts a well-decorated, twenty-one year background in the financial industry and is fast becoming one of the most engaged angel investors in Dallas' startup community.


Ted Hoffman

Investor

Ted Hoffman is a Managing Partner of Delos Investment Management and Founder of FLY Holdings.

Ted specializes in hedge fund strategy for a high-ranking portfolio of clients, whilst also building his new startup, FLY.


Venista Ventures

Investor

Venista Ventures is a Cologne, Germany-based Incubator specializing in early-stage mobile entertainment and value products and services.

Venista has been successfully operating sustainable, profitable mobile technologies and services since 2004 and investing as a mobile business incubator since 2010.

Need is the first investment Venista makes outside of Europe. Venista Ventures provides Need with resources, infrastructure, and press and legal services across Europe.

Vlcnr Ventures

Vlcnr Ventures is a Romania-based Incubator and Incinerator specializing in early-stage mobile ecosystems and all-stage sunsetting.

Vlcnr has been successfully operating mobile technologies and services, through VlcnrSoft, and investing as a mobile advertising network, through Vlcnrads, since 2013.

Need is the first investment Vlcnr makes outside of Europe. Vlcnr Ventures provides Need with volcanic energy, executives, and molten hot magma across Europe.
